Your Responsibilities
As a Senior Control Systems Engineer for John Deere's Construction
& Forestry Division located in Dubuque, IA, you will support
model-based controls development for a single product line and
provide technical guidance to team members across multiple product
lines. Specifically, you will collaborate with a globally
distributed product design team to identify system requirements,
develop and simulate control systems models, and execute control
systems tuning on physical machines. This position requires a
demonstrated understanding of off-highway equipment, customer
applications, and cross-functional machine systems. Tools include
MATLAB, Simulink, and Simscape. In addition, you will---
Collaborate with a globally distributed product design team to
define quantifiable performance requirements; as such, this
position will occasionally require support during off-peak work
hours
Develop robust physics-based control systems models to achieve
product design objectives, including electronically controlled
hydraulic mechanisms, powertrain, power management, etc.;
cross-functional collaboration will include Dynamic Systems
Modeling, embedded systems software and hardware, and Product
Verification & Validation
Perform on-machine control systems troubleshooting and tuning
Create documentation for the control systems architecture, theory,
and on-machine tuning processes
Teach control theory and provide technical guidance to support
controls delivery across construction product portfolios

What Skills You Need
Model-based experience with control systems design and application
of control theory
Demonstrated expertise with mechanical systems, physics,
mathematics, and dynamic system analysis
Experience performing on-machine tuning for off-highway
equipment
Proven ability to develop system requirements and lead, coordinate,
and deliver control systems solutions
What Makes You Stand Out
Previous experience using MATLAB, Simulink, and Simscape tools for
model-based system design and/or control systems development
Expert-level understanding in embedded-controls, hydraulic systems,
powertrain, and/or structural linkages
Product engineering experience with off-highway equipment and
customer applications
Advanced degree in an engineering discipline
Education
Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work
experience in the following:
