Title: Staff Engineer, Product - 72629

Your Responsibilities

As a Staff Engineer, Product, at John Deeres Construction & Forestry (C&F) located in Dubuque, Iowa, you will i nterface with the Precision Construction Platform for integration of technology solutions across Deeres excavator portfolio. In addition , you will:

  • Serve as the conduit between the Deere Excavator electrical team and the Advanced R&D team, Precision Construction teams.
  • Provide vision and design responsibility for electrical systems and embedded system architecture for new products, including the introduction of MECA-2 controllers into the Deere Excavator portfolio.
  • Derive system and feature level requirements from multiple stakeholders including ; marketing, PV&V, quality, manufacturing , and suppliers
  • Design responsibility for vehicle systems and features by owning the creation and upkeep of the following: electrical component specifications, electrical and embedded system requirement documents, and software requirement documents
  • Champion assigned ISDP projects and support other ISDP projects needing electrical modifications
  • Coach and mentor early career electrical systems and embedded systems engineers
  • Provide team leadership for supporting engineers and contract employees including : both domestic and internationally located engineers, contract engineers, and software development engineers

What Skills You Need
  • Demonstrated technical leadership capability and project management skills
  • Experience with electrical hardware, software and their interaction with mechanical systems
  • Experience with hydraulic, electro-hydraulic, powertrain and grade control systems
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a self-directed mode
  • 8 or more years professional experience in electrical systems development
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% (both domestic and internationally)
What Makes You Stand Out

Experience with vehicle feature development including deriving requirements from multiple stakeholders
Experience with off-road equipment electrical hardware and software design, communication bus interfaces, and electro/mechanical control system development
Experience with both electronic hardware and software
Experience with the operations and function of construction or agricultural equipment
Knowledge of Deere or other excavator systems and applications
Experience working with a global team
Experience with reading, interacting with or creating system models using MATLAB Simulink or similar
10 or more years professional engineering experience
Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent work experience

Education (or equivalent work experience)
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
