Your ResponsibilitiesAs a Control System Engineer for the John Deere Construction & Forestry division, located in Dubuque, IA, you will support model-based design, analysis, and on-machine tuning of Control Systems for a variety of Construction and Forestry equipment applications, including closed-loop control of hydraulic and drivetrain systems. In addition, you will:

• Characterize components and multi-variable sub-system behavior in a lab setting through frequency response and system identification techniques
• Use component test data to develop optimal component control strategies in our vehicle systems
• Synthesize robust control systems for electronically controlled hydraulic mechanisms, powertrain, and other systems. This includes demonstrating robust stability and performance at the vehicle system level using simulation and analysis.
• Document control theory and field commissioning/tuning processes
• Develop control system models for code-generation
• Support or perform on-machine control system troubleshooting and tuning
• Support development of quantifiable performance requirements
• Work with the Dynamic System Modeling team to integrate control system and vehicle system models
• Work across disciplines, interfacing with design, software, dynamic systems modeling, and physical test groupsVisa sponsorship is NOT available for this position.What Skills You Need
  • Strong understanding of physics, mathematics, and dynamic systems
  • Knowledge in embedded software, hydraulics, powertrain, mechanisms, or robotics
  • Knowledge in control theory
  • Experience with Matlab, Simulink, and model-based system design
  • 2 or more years of engineering experienceWhat Makes You Stand Out

    • Expertise in control systems, embedded software, hydraulic systems, powertrain, mechanisms, or robotics
    • Experience or knowledge of Agricultural, Construction, and/or Forestry equipment
    • Master's degree in Control Systems or other relevant disciplineEducation (or equivalent work experience)Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent work experience in the following:
