Job Overview
Description of Responsibilities:
This position provides machining support services to the
engineering, tooling, production, R&D and maintenance
departments. This individual will interpret design data, whether in
digital or hard copy form and determine the appropriate machine
methods. He will then use available machines and tools to complete
machining of the defined items, typically prototypes, production
equipment and tooling, machining etc. Frequently, job will consist
of CNC programming directly from a solid model, debugging and
executing the program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Good attendance record is essential to the smooth operation of the
tool shop department
Read blueprints or digital design data and determine the most
efficient course of action to machine the desired output
Initially running the CNC equipment to learn UTD (Uelner Precision
Tools & Dies) machinery
3D modeling experience
Perform CNC programming as needed for horizontal and vertical
machining centers
For long running, CNC jobs may include setting up the machine(s) to
run 24 hours straight or unattended 15 hours
Knowledge of tooling and cutting different kinds of material
Operate manual machine equipment such as vertical mills and lathes
to machine precision tooling and equipment
Maintain complete records of all machining jobs for future
reference
Act as the primary technical resource for machining at Provide
design input as requested by engineering, R & D, and tooling
departments.
Train machine operators and set-up of operation of machining and
cross training for support machine both wire EDM and CNC
milling
Assist in maintaining appropriate inventory levels of tooling,
machining stock and operating supplies.
Maintain a clean and orderly shop
Work within the parameters of the quality system as maybe in force
or developed in the future by To be responsible for the quality of
work performed as part of his duties.
Take the necessary steps to preserve commercial confidentiality and
any other aspects of confidential information
16, Other duties consistent with the nature and grade of this
position as may be agreed on from time to time
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
1, Assist in the maintenance function when called upon to perform
equipment maintenance and tooling changeovers,
2, Act as a liaison to ensure the manufacturability of new product
designs,
Supervision:
1, Work with little or no supervision the majority of the time
2, Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental
and company goals 3, Attend in-house or off-site workshops,
seminars and conferences to increase or
maintain knowledge of position 4, Perform other duties as
assigned
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Comply with all safety and quality policies, practices and
procedures, Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and or the
Safety Manager and all quality issues to supervisor,
Tools and Equipment:
Knowledge of numerous types of tool room equipment is beneficial,
Primary equipment used will be vertical and horizontal machining
center, "Bridgeport" mill, horizontal lathe, band saws, drill
presses, grinding equipment, precision gauges and hand tools, Some
secondary items may include welders, micrometers, calipers etc,
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret 3D CAD models and mechanical drawings
is essential.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw
valid conclusions, Has the ability to interpret an extensive
variety of technical instructions in mathematical or graphical form
and to deal with several abstract and concrete variables,
Ability to proficiently utilize advanced CAD/CAM software for CNC
programming and solid modeling, Individual has proficient personal
computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine
database, work processing, spreadsheet, graphics etc,
Planning/Organization:
The individual must be able to handle multiple tasks/projects
simultaneously, In addition, the individual must be able to
prioritize and organize activities,
Other Skills:
