Job Description:
Mayo Clinic, a leader in medical excellence, education, and
research, is looking for a MOHS Surgical Technologist to join our
Dermatology department. This specialized role supports our
commitment to providing outstanding whole-person care by assisting
in MOHS micrographic surgeries, a precise surgical technique used
to treat skin cancer. This position requires a high level of skill,
attention to detail, and a passion for patient care in a fast-paced
and highly collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will have
experience in surgical settings, particularly in dermatology, and
will be integral to our goal of healing and improving patient
outcomes. Assist in setting up the surgical room, preparing
surgical equipment and consumables specific to MOHS surgeries.
Provide technical assistance during MOHS procedures, including
handling specimens and operating specialized equipment. Ensure
strict adherence to safety protocols and sterilization practices.
Support the surgical team in ensuring patient comfort and safety
before, during, and after the procedure. Collaborate with
pathologists to process and examine tissue specimens removed during
surgery. Manage inventory of surgical supplies and equipment,
ensuring availability and functionality. Participate in
post-operative care and patient education regarding wound care and
follow-up procedures. Proficiency in operating room protocols and
sterile field maintenance. Strong understanding of
dermatology/surgical terminology and equipment. Excellent manual
dexterity and fine motor skills. Ability to stand for extended
periods and lift up to 50 pounds. Strong interpersonal and
communication skills for effective patient interactions. Medical
