staff in providing quality patient care and technical support to
the afterhours operational needs of the small animal hospital,
caring for small animals as well as special species

(AN004)Tasks:Responsible for independently and proficiently
performing technical nursing responsibilities to provide quality
patient careEffectively copes with unanticipated problems and
suggesting methods of correction or prevention.Excellent
communication and technical skillsPossess the ability to make
independent decisions that can affect the quality/outcome of animal
lifeMonitors animal health status and records, provides nursing
care, notifies veterinarian when status changes and records in
medical record.Participates in review of inpatient cases/treatments
and gives assistance where neededCares for small animal patients as
well as special species, provides treatments according to
veterinarian's ordersParticipates in on-call shifts as required by
the hospitalAbility to multitask and prioritize while
assisting/teaching 4th year students and student
employeesCollaborates as a team with co-workers in a positive
productive mannerBring a positive, helpful, and collaborative
attitude to the unit and hospital. Listens effectively to others
and contributes to a positive working environment.General cleaning
and maintenance of work areasProviding support for decontamination

50 lbs. independently and physical and manual dexterity to perform
specialized technical tasks.This position is posted at Vet Tech
levels 1, 2 and 3. Level is determined by qualifications based on
type of prior veterinary tech experience.To qualify for Level 1:
Entry level, new CVT grad or awaiting to sit for the CVT exam, or
some CVT working experience with no specialization.To qualify for
Level 2: Generally, over 2 years of veterinary tech experience, may
substitute years of experience for specialization.To qualify for
Level 3: Veterinary Tech Specialist (VTS), or highly qualified and
specialized in a specific area, may have prior experience from
another university hospital.License/Certification:PreferredCVT -
Certified Veterinary TechnicianIf unlicensed, must obtain Wisconsin
licensure within your first 12 months of employment with UWVCWork
Schedule:Hours generally scheduled Sunday & Monday, 4:30 PM-12:30
AM.Potential for additional on-call hours as required by the
hospital.Position has future capability to open up to a Full-Time
position in Intermediate Care Ward.Work Type:Full or Part Time: 40%
- 100%It is anticipated this position requires work be performed
in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.Appointment

HOURLYDepending on QualificationsSign on bonus of 5% of base pay
(based on FTE) to be paid in two installments over first year of
