located on Main Street in Darlington, Wisconsin! JOB SUMMARY: Our
dental assistants assist the dentists with clinical procedures and
are responsible for a wide range of tasks in the dental clinic,
including direct patient care, administrative duties, and
laboratory functions consistent with professional standards and CHS
policies and procedures. At the Darlington Area Community Health
Center, our dental assistants additionally provide help at our
front desk and help facilitate virtual sessions for our behavioral
health patients. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Assists dentists in
providing direct patient care, including tending to patient
comfort. Seats patient, reviews health history, and takes and
records blood pressure. Reviews need for pre-medication. Ensures
patient electronic dental record available for dentist's review.
Assists dentists with dental procedures including examinations,
restorations, endodontics, oral surgery, and fixed and removable
prosthetics. Completes coronal polishing and flossing as part of a
dental prophylaxis. Provides oral hygiene instructions. Applies
topical fluoride. Exposes radiographs. Takes alginate impressions;
pours and trims models Assures operatories are disinfected and
instruments are sterilized according to current CDC and OSHA
guidelines. Responsible for stocking and tracking dental supplies.
Prepares operatories and sets up procedure trays, organizing and
laying out instruments for dentist use. Provides post-operative
instructions as directed. Works as part of a team to assure
patients are treated professionally and efficiently. Maintains
dental equipment and operatories following daily, weekly, and
monthly schedules. Accurately collects, records, and reports data
as needed for report and program monitoring. Maintains patient
dental records and other information as required. Coordinates lab
prescriptions and communication with dental labs. Actively
participates in and is accountable for duties assigned that support
the Mission and Values of being certified as a Patient Centered
Medical Home PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : Skills/Abilities Ability
and determination to efficiently carry out the Community Health
Systems, Inc. mission statement. Ability to establish and maintain
effective working relationships with patients, employees, and
public. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Knowledge and understanding of dental patient care. Ability to
operate autoclave, various dental instruments, and lab equipment.
Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports and
responding to correspondence. Ability to understand and utilize
Microsoft Office software. Work as part of a team with clinic staff
in a collegial and collaborative relationship in which each
understands and accepts the contributions and limitations of the
other. Knowledge of the sociocultural factors associated with the
community's use of medical, social, and dental care services.
Ability to relate well to residents of low-income, multi-cultural
neighborhoods, recognizing their right to participate in dental
care planning and decision-making. Ability to work under pressure
and high stress; maintain personal composure; evaluate situations
and act/react appropriately; and use tact in dealing with visitors,
patients, and difficult situations. Ability to communicate orally
and in writing, providing information to a wide variety of patients
and staff. Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations, and
procedures to administer patient care. Bilingual skills
(Spanish/English) helpful, but not required. Ability to read and
respond to emails in a timely fashion. Ability to identify and
maintain confidential/HIPAA information. Education Completion of
accredited Dental Assistant program preferred. Related Work
Experience 1 year direct prior experience preferred. Employment
