Under general supervision, the Reconciliation & Control Specialist
is responsible for balancing and reconciling select GL accounts and
select internal DDA accounts for HTLF and its subsidiaries.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepares daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations for HTLF
departments to ensure all variances have proper descriptions, are
classified accurately, and are cleared in a timely manner.
- Completes research on any outstanding items and communicates
with appropriate staff to bring resolution.
- Utilizes the "Total Reconciliation" (T-Rec) automated
reconciliation software system for designated reconciliations.
- Brings to the appropriate personnel's attention any system
related issues or efficiencies that may arise.
- Carries out assigned duties independently; recognizes the need
to escalate issues if reconciling items appear to be out of
compliance or require additional measures to bring to
resolution.
- Interacts with HTLF departments and bank personnel to bring
outstanding items to their attention and assist with balancing and
questions.
- Understands the daily, weekly, and monthly flow of funds within
reconciled accounts.
- Monitors selected internal checking accounts for timely
resolution of outstanding items.
- Acts as a backup for department staff when needed.
- Completes annual E-Learning Plan and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
training as assigned and keeps up-to-date knowledge of BSA as it
relates to the job function.

Qualifications
- High School required or
- GED required or
- Associates Accounting, Business Administration/Management,
Finance
- or the equivalent combination of both education and experience.

- 1-3 years of related experience preferably in the banking
industry performing bookkeeping/reconciliations/or the equivalent.

- Must possess a general understanding of accounting principles.

- Knowledge of processes and procedures and ability to provide
input. required
- Ability to research and problem solve routine issues/variances.

- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced
"team" environment. required
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks. required
- Ability to regularly work with bank/customer confidential
information/data. required
- Proficient computer skills, including Windows, Excel, Word, and
Outlook. required
- Knowledge of Deposit, Loan, and GL software (Fiserv Signature,
and Fiserv Prologue). preferred
