Senior Underwriter conducts credit analysis including gathering,
analyzing and interpreting credit information in order to assess
credit quality and minimize risk and potential loss on Small
Business loans. This position will be required to decision Small
Business loan requests in a timely manner and mentor other Small
Business Underwriters. Primary Responsibilities Provides timely
support and guidance to front line sales staff. Reviews and
processes all overrides to decisions made in the Small Business
Loan Center. Maintains and increases the profitability of the Small
Business portfolio by understanding the integrity of the scoring
system and validating the scorecards, while ensuring compliance
with government laws and regulations. Ensures that the application
and financial information were input accurately & on a timely
basis. Reviews and analyzes loan applications, financial
statements/tax returns, and other supporting documents. Uses credit
scoring software effectively to properly process, decision,
document credit requests according to Small Business Policy.
Evaluates the FICO score and the Custom Business score to
understand the business and personal trends. Reviews the Credit
Summary Authorization and render a final decision. Makes a sound
credit decision within assigned credit authority. Communicates loan
decisions and recommendations to lending staff at Member Banks
effectively. Ensures all service level agreements are met or
exceeded. Oversees the override process and helps gather
information for reports to management. Manages adherence to
compliance of Federal and State Regulations including, Regulation
B, HMDA and CRA. Routes loan requests over lending authority to
SBLC Management. Assists Portfolio Manager with underwriting
renewals as directed by Small Business Underwriting Manager.
Reviews appraisals, title work, credit reports and documents for
accuracy and compliance to the loan approval terms and conditions.
Reports policy violations and recommendations for correction to
Small Business Underwriting Manager. Assists the Manager in
resolving problems, compliance, loan review and internal audit
reviews. Assists with ongoing training of new staff. Mentors Small
Business Underwriters to adhere to credit policies and procedures
and serves as subject matter expert. Completes annual E-Learning
Plan and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) training as assigned and keeps
up-to-date knowledge of BSA as it relates to the job function.

Qualifications Bachelors Accounting, Business
Administration/Management, Finance required 3-5 years experience as
a commercial credit analyst or similar environment required Or
combined education and relevant experience. required Experience
working in a Small Business credit environment preferred 3-5 years
experience making and recommending decisions on loan requests
preferred Sales experience preferred Performance Measures: Volume
of requests completed through loan origination system Service level
agreements met or exceeded Success making decisions on a large
volume of Small Business loan requests Ability to manage tasks,
seek out additional duties and assist where needed Credit Quality:
Manage technical loan exceptions Manage input and review of new
Small Business loans with minimal errors Recommend proper structure
on all credits Monitor credit risk of each borrower to ensure
conformity with Bank policy Competencies Accountability - Thinking
and acting ethically, honestly, and with the highest work
standards; taking responsibility for your actions and fostering a
